2025 Impact Report

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO:

Dear Trailblazers,

We have officially completed our first full calendar year in operation, I am proud of the measurable progress we have made and the community momentum we have built. Make The Healthy Choice Foundation was established to improve health outcomes in South Dallas and Oak Cliff by increasing access to outdoor activity, environmental stewardship, and community centered wellness opportunities. In our first full year, we hosted more than 40 organized outdoor events and engaged over 500 participants across seven parks and trail systems and one community garden. We also raised more than 3,500 dollars in donations, demonstrating tangible community investment in our mission.

This year confirmed that when safe, structured, and consistent programming is introduced into underutilized green spaces, participation follows. By activating parks that are often overlooked, we increased visibility, encouraged physical activity, and created welcoming environments for residents of all fitness levels. Our presence contributes to both perceived and actual safety by ensuring these spaces are regularly used, maintained, and valued by the community.

South Dallas is home to one of the most unique park and trail systems in North Texas, with hundreds of acres of lush greenery, mature trees, and expansive open space. These natural assets are powerful public health tools. When used intentionally, they reduce barriers to exercise, improve mental wellbeing, and foster stronger social connections. Our work centers on helping residents see these spaces not as forgotten areas, but as accessible and essential components of a healthy community.

We invest directly in South Dallas and Oak Cliff by organizing consistent programming, building local partnerships, and creating visible pathways to healthier lifestyles. Our objective extends beyond hosting events. We aim to reshape how physical activity is viewed and experienced in this community, positioning it as normal, accessible, and sustainable.

I am deeply grateful to our participants, volunteers, donors, and partners who supported this foundational year. Your engagement made this progress possible. The accomplishments of 2025 represent the beginning of a long term commitment to expanding access, strengthening infrastructure, and advancing equitable health outcomes. Together, we are building a healthier and more connected South Dallas.

Organizational Vision

Over the next year, Make The Healthy Choice Foundation will expand core programs to increase participation in outdoor physical activity, environmental stewardship, and nutrition focused initiatives. The organization will prioritize improving accessibility, safety, and consistent community use of local green spaces.

To support sustainable growth, the Foundation will establish volunteer committees to strengthen program operations, outreach, and stewardship activities. In parallel, the organization will formalize relationships with community stakeholders and public partners to enhance coordination, resource sharing, and long term impact. These efforts will position the Foundation for scalable, community driven health and environmental outcomes.
